Bead of the Week

fossil 2USE CODE SAVE20 FOR 20% OFF THIS AND ANYTHING ELSE IN THE SHOP --

Orthoceras ("straight horn") is a genus of a now-extinct nautiloid cephalopod -- a once living, shell like organism. Each stone is polished to better reveal their lovely black and grey and off-white hues, and the vertebrae structure is clear as shown in the photos.
This set is predrilled (front to back) and ready for stringing into a matched necklace/earring set, or for use separately. The largest stone is approx. 39 x 24 mm., with an approx. 2 mm. hole. The two smaller ones are slightly different in size -- the smallest at approx. 34 x 14 mm., the larger at approx. 40 x 15 mm. The hole in this latter pendant (40 x 15 mm. one) is slightly chipped. Each of the smaller pendants has an approx. 1 mm. hole.

Larimar

Our bead of the week is this delicious natural Larimar pendant. Larimar is a form of blue Pectolite, a mineral displaying patterns of blue, blue-green and white.  It was discovered in the 1970's and is only found in the Dominican Republic, near the Carribean Sea. The name "Larimar" comes from a combination of Larissa and Mar and was given to the stone by a Dominican who named the stone after his daughter Larissa, and Mar, the Spanish word for sea. This special stone reminds me of the color of the ocean in some tropical areas.  It is so lovely to look at and hold; perhaps that has to do with what some say is its power to calm and sooth.  In design, Larimar works well in combination with many other stones, crystals, metals and beads. The pendant shown here can be purchased this week at an incredible savings to you, our friends and followers. It was just reduced by $10, and on top of that you can use our current 'Thank You' code of 80631 for another THIRTY PERCENT OFF at checkout for additional savings!
