Bead of the Week

tiny pinkThis is another of our FAVORITE items in the shop -- a gorgeous strand of delicate pink, natural untreated Peruvian Opal beads. They are faceted for a delightful sparkle! Each is approx. 6 mm.
and there are 90 beads on a 17" (approx.) strand.

Break them up and use a touch of gold for earrings, or string them together for a stunning necklace!

skull beads 1I don't know about you, but I fell in love with skull earrings & jewelry one day while perusing some of the cool stuff they have at Beadweaver in Santa Fe. If you're a big fan of Halloween like I am, you may want to experiment with using cute (or creepy) skull beads for some of your best holiday & Fall designs. Just to inspire you, I'll share some designs of cool skull bead jewelry and ideas I've found, for your inspirational pleasure (or purchase if you want to cut right to the chase).

First, here are some basic instructions --

Next, here are some suppliers selling skull beads --

skull 3Next, here are some from inspiring artists around the internet:

and some great designs from shabbyskull on Etsy:

I could go on, but you get the idea! Add some glowing or sparkly crystals or rhinestones to the eye sockets, hang some angel wing charms off the bottom, think of exotic antique brass beads you can add for 'crowns'...the variations are endless (and FUN).

So let us know if you try this out and send us some photos! We'd love to show off your work!

Until Next Time,

Sheila
