red agateJust perfect for your Halloween creations -- these Red Agate Evil Eye beads are of stone that was formed from layers of silica from volcanic cavities. Agate is named after the Achates River (now known as the Dirillo River) on the island of Sicily, Italy, whose upper waters were an ancient source of this gemstone. Each strand offered here has 16 round faceted beads, with colors ranging from red to amber, as shown. Each bead is approx. 10 mm. with an approx. 2 mm. hole. Each strand is $10, but for a limited time, take 10% off with the code HALLOWEEN at checkout.

fabiana new 1I discovered Fabiana (or she discovered me!) on LinkedIn, and it was a pleasure to get to know her. Today's post is on her unique history and approach to jewelry-making. Fabiana lives in a small village south of Italy, near the beautiful coast of the Gargano.  She describes herself as 'very busy' (we can relate!), but she loves her life -- connecting with nature, animals, and especially the sea. Her goal is to share her vision of the world through her art and life inspirations. I hope you enjoy her story as much as I did!

Sheila:  What got you started in jewelry making?

Fabiana:  My passion for art has led me to the realization of jewelry in a very casual and unexpected way. Ever since I was little I learned to draw, a passion I never wanted to abandon even when, growing up, my studies went in a different direction. I have always drawn female subjects, at some point I began to dress them up with jewels of various shapes. From there I arrived to the craftsmanship.

Sheila:  How did you hone your skills?

Fabiana: Although I had never done it before, I immediately became acquainted with the tools of the craft, as a lover of art, I like to experiment, so I try to create something.  Sometimes I do not know what I will create, some others I have a clear idea in my mind.

Sheila:  What do you call your style and why?

fabiana new 2Fabiana:  I think my style is a little bohemian, certainly in line with European trends. I look for innovation in my line, always with a discreet and never excessive taste, even in the strongest pieces of the collection.

Sheila:  Can you describe your ideal customer?

Fabiana:  My ideal customer is a woman who loves to take care of herself, she is a woman with strong goals in life. Many of my clients are women who need to affirm themselves in life and who care about their femininity. I tend to think that they resemble me, because they love my style, somehow they love the essence of what I create, they often buy because they understand what is behind every single creation.

Sheila:  What are your favorite materials and why?

Fabiana:  I love gemstones because they are an element of connection with nature. I find interesting the connection created between gems and women on an energetic level.

For their properties, their effects and their incredibly feminine appearance, I love rose quartz, mother of pearl and angelite.
