What is the ACT?

The ACT is a college readiness assessment test that measures what you have learned in high school and how well you are prepared for college-level coursework. The test is comprised of four sections: English, reading, mathematics, and science. The ACT is offered seven times a year, and you can register for the test online at www.actstudent.org.

You will need to provide your SAT or ACT scores when you apply to college, so it is important to take the test early enough so that your scores will be available when colleges begin to review applications. The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is also required for international applicants whose first language is not English.

SUNY FIT does not have a minimum score requirement for the ACT or TOEFL, but our Admissions Committee does use these tests as part of their holistic review of each applicant. We encourage all applicants to do their best on these tests, as strong scores can enhance your application and make you a more competitive candidate for admission.

If you have any questions about the ACT or TOEFL requirements at SUNY FIT, please contact our Admissions Office at [email protected] or (212) 217-7999.
